Audiobooks have intrigued me for years, so I jumped at the opportunity to have some of my books transformed into audiobooks by Wordwooze Publishing. However, now that I am in the short story business, I didn’t know how to solve it.
I don’t like my own voice and accent enough to do it myself, and to hire a live voice actor would have been difficult and costly. Then I discovered AI conversion of texts.
I’m always intrigued by new technologies and try to implement them into my life where possible. Through AppSumo, I bought several codes for AI text to speech conversion services, and I went to work.
What I love most about it is that I can choose different voices for the various characters. This is always my main gripe with audiobooks where one actor will put on different voices to differentiate the personas.
You miss certain intonations, definitely. It’s not the same as a human actor, but I still think it’s rather impressive.
I try to keep my price low since they’re short stories and AI conversions.
