I know this song breathes Sinatra for most people, even though actually it was a French song.

I prefer the version by the Northern Kings. They are an assembly of metal artists who have made two albums together, covering famous pop songs in heavy metal style.

The version by the Northern Kings always brings me to tears. The combination of the lyrics with the intense emotionality in his voice always tips me over the edge. You have to listen to it at full volume to have the best effect.

The words themselves speak to me too. I’ve had a hard life, and I’ve not always chosen the path people expected me to take. Especially now, as a blogger and writer in the genre I have chosen, things get complicated sometimes. Listening to this song gives me the courage and belief that I did make the right decisions and that I have the right to be where I am today. I did it my way.
