Tell Me Something True Mind or Body Question

If you were able to live to the age of 90 and retain either the mind or body of a 30-year old for the last 60 years of your life, which would you choose, and why?

I would choose the body, but it wasn’t an easy decision.
I expect my mind to continue to develop until the day I die. I will learn; I will evolve. I think a ninety-year-old with the mind of a thirty-year-old will make a strange discrepancy. I’m 38 now, but I can see lessons I have learned over the past eight years. I expect to continue learning as years go by, as I should.

Yes, my mind will become less flexible. I will need to work at challenging my mind with new information by learning new skills. These are things that require maintenance, and I am aware of them. It’s partly why I write in my second language and listen to music in my third language. Gotta keep those mind muscles moving.

I would like to keep the body of a thirty-year-old. I detest sports and exercise, all of it. I know it’s necessary, but I would love to go without. So yes, if there were a magic spell where I could return to and keep my body as it was when I was thirty, I would.

I want to add that because my body is breaking down already due to my lack of exercise and coming of age, it teaches me lessons. Life isn’t eternal. My body isn’t going to exist for another hundred years. So I’d better make something of my life and live it while I can. After all, you never know when it’s over.

  1. I chose the same, and for the same reason. I expect that my mind will keep developing, mainly because I actually love to learn and expand my brain. I am constantly thinking (and overthinking) to the point of keeping myself awake quite often. My body, on the other hand…well, I’m lazy. So, yes, if I could just keep the body I had at thirty and not have to worry about it? Sign me up!
