Tell Me About – Flogging
I love to be flogged. We bought our first flogger many years ago at a fair in Belgium. It scared me quite a bit, and it wasn’t until years later that we actually started to use it frequently.
While doing research for this post, I discovered that ‘flogging’ is actually a term for all whippings, even the harsh punishment types.
Knowing this, it makes me feel slightly uneasy to say I love floggings. I refer to the Urban Dictionary definition here:
Mainly S&M terminology, flogging is to use a whip for sexual enjoyment.A ‘flogger’ shall remain for the moment ‘any flexible many-tailed striking tool where the tails are simple strips of leather or similar substances, designed for use on the human body’.https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=flogging
So what do I actually like about floggings?
My Dominant uses the flogger usually to warm me up and get me in the spanking mood. It makes for an easy transition from my everyday life to a BDSM punishment. The hits with this multi-stranded implement do hurt, of course, but usually, they’re not as strong and sharp as the hits of a cane.
This warm-up is literally that: a warm-up. It warms my muscles and eases me into the spanking.
Is this warm-up always pleasant? Nope. When I’m really stressed and upset, a beating with a flogger on my upper back can lead me to become very emotional. This isn’t pleasant, nor is it sexy. I’ve been through so much in my life, and as a result, I’ve ‘stored away’ a lot of emotions in this area of my body. Massaging me there can lead to the same effect.
When this happens during play, we usually stop for a break and a cuddle. Sometimes we continue, sometimes we don’t.
So we use floggings for a warm-up and emotional release. Anything else?
Well, we own two other floggers that inflict pain. The one has strands of leather and hits hard, where the other one has braided strands and little knots. These hurt a lot. Additionally, we don’t just do floggings on my back and ass. Breasts can make for a great target too. And when one strand hits my nipple with full force, it stings a lot.
So yeah, I love floggings, in all their varieties: the gentle warm-up, the emotional release and the impactful pain play. I love the warm glowy feeling they bring, but also enjoy the painful sting. They’re definitely part of our pain play repertoire, and I suppose they’ll always be.
I am so glad that you mentioned that when you get emotional…
“…we usually stop for a break and a cuddle…”
It means a lot to me personally to see that. I still find it hard to get my head round pain being a good thing.
I really like the way you set this out Liz and showed the different ways that you use flogging. When I set the topic I did mean this sort of flogging rather than other forms of whipping but it is always good to hear how others interpret things too. It sounds like the flogger has a pretty versatile use in your dynamic which is really encouraging. I think maybe we are a bit limited in our use ?
Since English is my second language, sometimes it’s important to actually look up a word and not just assume the kinky interpretation is the only one ?
I do enjoy the versatility of this implement ?
