There was a time in my life when things didn’t go as well as they do now. I had financial troubles, the house I was living in was decrepit and in a bad neighbourhood, and most of all: I was alone. I had left my boyfriend and was trying to get back on my feet. I was happy with my situation, but they were tough times.
Krypteria
During this time, I found the artist ‘Krypteria.’ They’re a rock band from Germany. Time and time again, I would listen to the album ‘My Fatal Kiss.’ Even at the time, I realised how Emo and dark it was, but I felt attracted to the music nonetheless.
So with the prompt ‘anguish’ and ‘misery’ in mind, I quickly checked if Krypteria had a song with either of those words in it. And they did:
Somebody Save Me
Krypteria
I bare my soul
Stripped on a silver platter
My back to the wall
Blindfolded, tied up, battered
Yearning for someone
Someone to end this misery
But will that someone, anyone
Ever come and rescue me
Somebody save me, I’m close to the edge
Someone to fill me with life, give me dreams I never had
Somebody save me and answer my please
Someone to lift me back up and to put my heart at ease
Somebody help me please
Outcast, alone
Searching but never finding
I’d give my all
For a trace of silver lining
Yearning for someone
Someone to end this misery
But will that someone, anyone
Ever come and rescue me
Somebody save me, I’m close to the edge
Someone to fill me with life, give me dreams I never had
Somebody save me and answer my please
Someone to lift me back up and to put my heart at ease
Somebody help me please
There’s not much left for me to lose
Can anybody heal these wounds?
Someone to start my life anew
Where’s that someone?
Where are you?
Somebody save me, I’m close to the edge
Someone to fill me with life, give me dreams I never had
Somebody save me and answer my please
Someone to lift me back up and to put my heart at ease
Somebody help me please

I like this song a lot Liz, great music and a nice video. A lot of people feel lost, depressed, and empty, like they have reached the edge and they can’t take any more, they hope and pray there will be somebody to come out of nowhere and erase all the pain.
Yes, and I was fortunate enough and someone did come into my life, and especially now during Covid times, life is tough for everyone. Music like this can reflect these feelings and help you cope in a way.
It is interesting how music can tell the history of our lives. The types we choose and are drawn to and how those types change as we change. They are like an accessory. Something we wear until they no longer fit or feel right.
I love your comparison. It can definitely not feel right suddenly and you move on to something else.
I never heard of this band before. I really like this song. Thanks for sharing.
It so happens in our life that some events coincide in mood with the music we hear. And then this music becomes close to us. Over the years, and remembering these events, we also remember the music that was associated with them.
